What personal data we collect and why we collect it


When visitors leave comments on our site we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact form

Any data you submit to us through the contact page is retained for customer service purposes. We do not use this information for marketing purposes.

Mailing List

If you sign up for our mailing list, we collect two pieces of information: your first name and email address. We use this data to send you the mailing list and to personalize your experience.


While you visit our site, we track the following information:

  • Products you’ve viewed, in order to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Your location, IP address and browser type, in order to, for example, estimate taxes and shipping
  • Your cart contents while you’re browsing our site, in order to enable purchasing

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.


If you make a purchase in our site’s shop, we collect several pieces of information. We collect your name, shipping address, email address, IP address, and telephone number to calculate appropriate taxes (if any), complete your order, send you an invoice, and ship any physical products you bought to you. If you make a purchase on behalf of a business, we also collect your company name and EU VAT number (if any) to ensure we calculate tax properly. We also collect your billing information so we can process your payment.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites (e.g. Instagram) behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.


In addition to the uses of cookies noted above, we use Google Analytics to analyze user activity on our website. Who we share your data with

Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

If you make a purchase in our site’s shop, we process your payment through Square. This involves sending Square the purchase total and your billing information. At the following links you can read Square’s privacy policy and the security measures they take to protect your financial information. If you purchase a physical product, we send your name and shipping address, as well as the dimensions, weight, and quantities of purchased products to USPS in order to ship you the product.

If you sign up for our mailing list, the information you submit at signup (first name and email address) is stored with Mailchimp. This information will be used to send you occasional news updates and special coupons. You can find Mailchimp’s privacy policy here.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you sign up for our mailing list, the information connected with your entry is stored indefinitely.

For any users that register for an account on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile indefinitely. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you make a purchase through our website, we store your order details for eight years before removing your personal information from our records. If you initiate an order with us that is later cancelled, any information associated with that order is only stored for three months.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, made a purchase through this site, signed up for the mailing list, or left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
